A new homebuying assistant tool launched this week aims to answer the most common questions people have when shopping for a house. Called RealAssist AI, the platform was built in partnership with Google's Gemini and Google Cloud, and it is now live on Realtor.com.
The tool is designed to handle the kind of questions that often come up during a home search but can be hard to answer quickly. According to early data, buyers are asking about property taxes, school district ratings, and the age of major systems like the roof and HVAC. Many users also want to know about recent sales in the neighborhood and how long similar homes have been sitting on the market.
Another popular category involves financing. People ask about down payment assistance programs, typical closing costs, and how much their monthly payment might be at current interest rates. Some questions get more specific, like whether a certain street has a history of flooding or if a home is in a wildfire zone.
RealAssist AI pulls from public records, listing data, and other sources to give instant answers. The goal is to save buyers from having to dig through multiple websites or wait for a real estate agent to reply. The tool is free to use and appears as a chat window on property pages.
Early feedback suggests that buyers appreciate getting straightforward answers without sales pressure. The developers say they plan to keep adding features based on what people ask most often.
