A sprawling estate in Los Altos Hills, complete with its own working winery, has been purchased by a buyer from China. The property, described in marketing materials as a "sanctuary," sits on nearly 10 acres of land in the affluent Santa Clara County community. The sale closed for $12.5 million, according to public records.
The estate features a main residence spanning over 7,000 square feet, with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The property also includes a separate guest house, a pool, and extensive gardens. The centerpiece is a private winery with a tasting room and a cave for barrel storage, capable of producing several hundred cases of wine annually.
Real estate agents involved in the deal noted that the buyer is part of a group of investors from China looking for luxury properties in the Bay Area. The purchase reflects ongoing interest from international buyers in high-end California real estate, despite market fluctuations and regulatory changes in recent years. The estate was originally listed for $14.8 million before the final sale price was negotiated.
Neighbors in the exclusive hillside community said the property had been owned by a local family for decades before being put on the market last year. The new owners plan to use the estate as a private residence and may host small wine-tasting events for guests. The sale was handled by a brokerage specializing in luxury and vineyard properties.
